Saraswati Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Palwal is a premier centre of higher learning, giving education up to Post Graduate Level with emphasis on all round development and holistic growth of the students. Accredited by ‘NAAC’, affiliated to M.D.U. Rohtak and duly recognized and aided by the State Govt. & UGC, the college imparts value based quality education to the young girls of the area. We were the first to start Women College in this region. Today it has a place of pride among the eminent colleges of Haryana. The college is governed by a progressive society Saraswati Shishu Mandi rPrabandh Samiti (Regd), which also runs various other educational institutions, all having pre-eminent positions in their respective spheres. We believe education is enriched by the unique perspectives and experiences each student brings, and we are committed to fostering an environment that celebrates and values diversity in all its forms. With the determination and sustained efforts of the founder and chairman of the Apex body, Late Sh. Lakhan Pal Mangla (Advocate), founder of the college, Late Sh. Mool Chand Mangla (Ex MLA) & Co- founder of the college, and Late Sh. Mohan Lal Mittal (Secretary), the foundation stone of the building was laid down on 2nd Sep. 1984. The first academic session of the college was started in the year 1988-89, since then the college has progressed by leaps and bounds, leaving no stone unturned to thwart and subdue the obstacles that came in its way. The college offers the faculties of Arts, Commerce and Science to its students. Keeping in mind the changes in the socio-cultural ethos and the interest of the students in the job oriented courses, the college under the dynamic leadership of the President, Governing Body, Sh. Atul Mangla, Additional Advocate General, Haryana in Supreme Court started BCA in 2002, B.Com.(Vocational) and B.Sc.(Comp. Sci.) in the year 2003, BBA in 2008 and B.Voc. courses in I.T. and Marketing Management & I.T. in 2016 under Deen DayalUpadhayay Kaushal Kendra scheme of Govt. of India. M.A. Pol. Sc. was introduced in the year 2010 and M.A. English in 2011. In the session 2014-15 two more PG courses i.e. M.Sc. Physics and M.Com. were introduced and in the session 2021-22 M.Voc., in 2022-2023 M.B.A. and M.Sc. Computer Science started successfully .

The college has been consistently introducing new courses as per the needs of the society and it blends the old world aura with modern facilities and provides the students an opportunity to flourish in an atmosphere where tradition and modernity go hand in hand to provide freedom to think and to learn. Today approximately more than 3000 students are studying in various faculties of our college. The inspiration of our efficient Management, consistent efforts of our teaching and administrative staff and hard work of our students always translate into excellent result. Our students scored positions in the University Merit list in each and every academic session. In every stream we have nearly 100% results. Many of our students got I to V positions in the MDU examinations. The institution has always played a cascading role in enhancing career and personality of innumerable students who have brought laurels to the college, state and country.

The college does not believe in producing mere bookworms. We strive to tap and harness the latent talent of young Spartans by exposing them to various associations, clubs and societies- both literary and extracurricular so that they can explore their inner faculties not only in the academics but also in sports and cultural activities. The campus is always busy and bustling with academic, extracurricular and co-curricular activities. The college can boast of various cells, clubs and societies to help and enlighten the students and show them the right direction.

Further different literary societies of our college conduct various activities to provide students a platform to air their views and to enhance confidence in them. The NSS Unit and YRC Unit of our college work tirelessly throughout the year with the mission planting trees, sensitizing society towards cleanliness, sanitation, female foeticide, global warming, environment conservation etc. The college helps students belonging to economically weaker sections to apply for various scholarships, so that they can study and create a respectable place for themselves in the society. Under Alumni Association the ex-students of the college are invited from time to time. Their views are taken about the progress of the college.

The college library offers around 20,000 books, 13 newspapers and 14 Journals and 12 Magazines and a rich book bank. In the healthy environs of this institution, one can find not only a spacious playground and beautiful building, lush green lawns, well stocked library, well equipped science labs and gymnasium, air conditioned computer labs, an auditorium & seminar hall with audio visual teaching aids, a conducive study-environment but also a loving, humane atmosphere that spells- we care. The entire Saraswati family, the deeply dedicated management, the learned faculty, the dutiful administration and support staff-earnestly endeavour to provide holistic education to its students in order to produce not only good scholars but good human beings also who are academically sound, socially acceptable, economically self-reliant and spiritually enlightened. We believe in the atmosphere where the whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows. While much has changed over SMM’s 30 years, what endures is our never-ending commitment to creating a greater world.
